Our Volunteers are the Heart of our House.
The Ronald McDonald House is supported by a strong foundation of volunteers. Their gifts of love and compassion make this House more than just a place to stay, they make it a home. Volunteers make the difference in the lives of all the families that come through our doors.
On behalf of the hundreds of families we help every year, we say “Thank You!” and invite you to find your own volunteer opportunity.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
There is always something going on in our House that we are in need of some extra hands for! We would love your help with the odds and ends we need completed to operate! Here are some ways you can volunteer
Front Desk Volunteer (individual volunteer)
Work with our guests to provide a home-like environment by greeting guests & visitors, assisting with family needs, answering phones, transporting families to and from the hospital, and other duties. A friendly outgoing personality and minimum 6-month commitment is preferred, and clean DMV drivers record are preferred for this volunteer role. Click here to see the service description.
Happy Wheels (individual or small group)
Happy Wheels is a hospitality cart which provides families at Valley Children’s Hospital with a moment of joy while staying bedside with their child. The cart is filled with snacks, toys, coloring books, crayons, Lyons juices, and Mott’s juices, which volunteers share with parents & siblings of the patients. This position requires volunteers to complete the on-boarding process for both RMHC and Valley Children’s Hospital. See a photo of the Happy Wheels cart here.
Light Housekeeping/Maintenance (individual or small group)
Are you a neat-freak or just enjoy cleaning? Help keep our House in sparkling condition! We are always looking for individuals or small groups to help clean windows, wipe down tables & chairs, sweep, vacuum, and clean our three kitchens. We also welcome those with special skills like electricians and plumbers to help with maintenance tasks.
Family Activities (individual or small group)
Here’s your chance to get crafty and creative! Hosting a fun activity provides families staying here with much needed distractions. These volunteer led activities can be done year-round or themed around an upcoming holiday. Some activity ideas include (but not limited to), Arts & Crafts, Movie Nights, Baking Activity, Cookie/Cupcake Decorating, Spa Services, and Pet Visitors (therapy/service animals).
Salon & Spa Services (individual or small group)
Are you a licensed hairdresser or massage therapist? Our families often forget about their own needs during their child’s hospitalization. Offering our families fresh hairs cut or chair massages is a wonderful way to help them feel and look good!
Annual & Special Events Volunteer (individual or group)
Volunteer at any of our special fundraising events throughout the year. Our events are a fun way to support the House, both as an individual or as part of a team. Our upcoming events can be found on our Event Calendar.
Meals From The Heart (group)
This is a fantastic way for a family, friends, community or corporate group to give back and bond at the same time! You can sign-up to host a breakfast, lunch, or dinner any day of the year. Find out more information on our Meals From The Heart page. For this program, volunteers can be as young as 8 years old with adult supervision.
Red Shoe Society (individual volunteer)
Are you a young professional looking to get involved? Consider joining our guild of young business professionals. Throughout the year this dynamic group raises awareness and funds for our House and hosts an annual event. For more information email, firstname.lastname@example.org
Fundraising Committee (individual volunteer)
Are you the super creative type or experience planning events ? Put your skills to use and join one of our fundraising committees. We have several annual events and are always looking for energetic and creative people to help make our events successful.
