Congratulations Linda on becoming Volunteer of the Month!
You have demonstrated to our staff that you are #forRMHC and have a special place in your heart for Our Mission and the families we serve.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Linda Gutierrez and I am a single mother of one incredible young man, Corbin who’s 20 years old. I was raised by my parents who also reside in Fresno. I am one of three kids and have a total of four nephews and one beautiful niece. I have been working at AT&T for 19 years. When I am not working or going to school I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and dancing whenever I can. I am also active at church and love the Lord. I try to live by a motto of treating others as I want to be treated.
2. How did you start volunteering at with our House?
I went back to school in the fall of 2016 and had a friend who worked for Valley Children’s Hospital as a social worker. When the time came to do my work experience hours I reached out to her and she recommended the Ronald McDonald House. I did a lot of praying and when I called the house I had an opportunity to speak to Sven, who was so sweet and welcoming with all my questions. We set up a time to meet and not long after I started.
3. What type of things have you done while volunteering?
I’ve greeted families, talked to family members if I felt they just needed someone to listen. I also helped by cleaning the house. I’ve helped volunteer at different events, I recently was asked to be in charge of the volunteers at our last event Color Me Rad. I’ve also had the privilege of preparing meals for the families at the home. This was a wonderful experience and was something I was able to do with my family.
4. What is your favorite part about RMHCCV?
My favorite part of the house was meeting everyone that worked there and the families. I have been so blessed by the staff because everyone has been so kind, friendly and welcoming I was so sad the last day knowing I may not come back. But, my family wants to do more meals for the house and I just can’t wait to go back and see all the beautiful faces.
5. Tell us something fun about you that we don’t know.
I was a Pep Girl my senior year at Roosevelt in 1987.
Thank you Linda for letting us share about the amazing things you do for our House!
