Text MEALS to 20222 to donate $25 today to sponsor a meal for RMHCCV families

May 27, 2020—MADERA, Calif. — The newly launched “Adopt-a-Meal” campaign benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley (RMHCCV) will allow donors to buy groceries and prepared meals for families with hospitalized children.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has prevented RMHCCV’s generous volunteers from delivering groceries or donating their time to prepare meals for the 18 families living at the house. The suspension of the “Meals from the Heart” program has had a major financial repercussion on the charity.

The new “Adopt-a-Meal” program will allow “Meals from the Heart” volunteers to donate cash, so that RMHCCV staff can help alleviate the emotional and financial burden on families staying near their children hospitalized at Valley Children’s Hospital. The community is asked to text MEALS to 20222 to donate $25 today.

“We’ve had to make changes to our operations due to the pandemic, as many organizations in our community have,” said Dr. Kent Karsevar, RMHCCV Executive Director. “The suspension of the ‘Meals from the Heart’ program has really hurt us both emotionally and financially. We miss seeing our volunteers in our kitchens every day, and we also are having a tough time paying for all the meals for our guest families.”

“Adopt-a-Meal” donors can visit https://rmhccv.org/serve-a-meal/ to adopt a meal today, and the charity will purchase meals and groceries for families in the donors’ name. Donors can also text MEALS to 20222 to donate $25 today.
